Lk 4: 14-21, Isa 61:1-2
Lk 4: 14-21 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
The fullness of time is the acceptable time to accomplish a particular assignment. It is a time of blessing to fulfill the purpose of divine enlargement. God has a time for the fulfillment of His Word and this is the time.
There are two things involved in the fulfillment of the Word of God. You can hear an instruction and yet, it is not fulfilled in your life.
What do we need for the scripture to be fulfilled in our lives
We need the requisite anointing. You need the adequate anointing to another level in the fullness of time.
The anointing empowers – it gives the ability to accomplish a purpose. Matt 3:16; Acts 10:38 Jesus shouldn’t have accomplished His purpose without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. God knew that Jesus’ life would have been unfulfilled, therefore, He sent the Holy Ghost upon Him for empowerment.
This empowerment gives Jesus the ability to fulfill His purpose. It is one thing for the scripture to be fulfilled in your ears and another thing for it to be fulfilled in your lives. In order for the scripture to be fulfilled in your lives, you need the requisite anointing. When Elijah was about to depart, Elisha asked for a double portion of the anointing upon the life of Elijah 2 Kgs 2:9. The anointing enlightens; it empowers so that every weakness is destroyed. Without the anointing you still remain in darkness life. Amen!
How can we receive a greater portion of God’s anointing?
Remain born again. If you are not yet born again, then you should be. You need to maintain your focus on the Lord, as a born again. Remain steadfast in the Lord. If you want the anointing to increase, you need to be born again by the spirit, then the anointing comes upon you to fulfill the purpose of God
Backsliding causes the anointing to deteriorate– Lk 9:62
Wait for divine instruction with a clear motive and act upon such instruction. Pray and ask God questions. Jesus told the disciples to wait for what the Father has promised – this was a period of waiting for God to empower them for His purpose Acts 1:4. Take a time apart and pray for divine instruction. In Job 14:14, when Job was going through all his trials, he said he will wait on God till his change comes. Spend time to wait on the Lord and you will receive divine instruction – thereafter, act upon it. We should wait, especially in difficult times.
We should be of one accord. We have individual assignment and cooperate assignment. Acts 2: 1. Cooperate assignment requires cooperate anointing and for cooperate anointing to function well, you have to be in one accord. It also requires togetherness while in fellowship. Unity causes the anointing to flourish. In Heb 10:25, the Bibles encourages us to ensure we meet together. In the midst of fellowship, there is a cooperate anointing that influences your life. Ps 133:1. In the church today, people come together with diverse purposes – you have different assignment; therefore, the anointing does not flourish as it should. In order to enlarge, we need to be in one place having the same purpose.
